TLC Plumbing: Integrating Print & Digital
“Expert plumbing by people who really care.”
It’s the motto that has guided TLC Plumbing since it first opened its doors over 20 years ago in San Diego, California. And it’s no coincidence whatsoever that founder Thad L. Condon’s initials are T.L.C because he and wife, Shannon, have built a business based on exemplary service and going that extra mile. “We truly care about our clients,” says Shannon, with pride. “Our guys aren’t there just to earn a buck. They enjoy what they do, and I think that comes across.”
YP℠, The Real Yellow Pages® has been with Thad and Shannon since day one, helping them build and grow their business into the success that it is today. As with any new business, they started small, but eventually grew their advertising campaigns – as well as their client base – into something bigger over time. “When I first started the business, my Yellow Pages advertising was a little quarter column ad in the print book. Today, I’m running full-page and double truck ads,” says Thad. “It’s been over twenty years since I’ve been advertising with YP.”
A big part of TLC’s success with advertising has to do with their long-standing relationship with YP. Having worked together for 20 years, a lot of mutual trust and respect has been earned. In fact, it’s this undeniable sense of trust that made Thad and Shannon confident to make the leap from only running print campaigns to now deploying a more integrated print and digital marketing plan.
“One of the benefits of having a long-term relationship with YP is the confidence in knowing that any recommendations they make are in the best interest of our business and not just to make a sale,” Shannon says. “That’s why we branched out from print into digital. We have clients who access information in different ways, so we see the value of print and digital working together.”
The result has paid dividends – almost more than Thad and Shannon could handle. “My goal for our advertising campaign as to produce one to three calls per day,” says Thad. The combination of print and digital generated more calls than they ever expected. “Sometimes we have to turn the phone off,” Thad exclaims with a chuckle.
One thing is for sure: no matter how much their business has grown, Thad and Shannon – and their team at YP – have always stayed true to their motto.
“I would recommend YP to other businesses,” Thad tells us. “In fact, I already do.”
